OpenAI is releasing a new version of the ChatGPT tool that is meant for businesses only. The company announced on Monday that it was unveiling this new service called ChatGPT Enterprise. The company noted that the service will be available for companies to purchase from Monday. It noted that this was the most powerful version of ChatGPT and that it would offer enterprise-grade security and privacy.
The blog post states, “We believe AI can assist and elevate every aspect of our working lives and make teams more creative and productive. Today marks another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is customized for your organization, and that protects your company data.”
This new announcement by OpenAI comes as the company noted that more than 80% of the top 500 companies have already started using ChatGPT since its launch publicly late last year. Before this new ChatGPT Enterprise was launched, many leading companies, such as JPMorgan Chase, had put in place restrictions on workplace use of ChatGPT.
This new version came to address the main issue that was leading to workplace clampdowns, which are privacy and security. Many companies had expressed worries about employees dropping key information into ChatGPT and having such sensitive information potentially emerge as an output by the tool elsewhere. In the blog, OpenAI noted that they will not train on business data or conversations and that the model won’t learn from the usage.
The price for ChatGPT Enterprise was, however, not disclosed online. Instead, potential businesses were asked to contact the sales team. “We look forward to sharing an even more detailed roadmap with prospective customers and continuing to evolve ChatGPT Enterprise based on your feedback. We’re onboarding as many enterprises as we can over the next few weeks.” Noted OpenAI.
ChatGPT came up with this new version after Microsoft unveiled a business-specific version of its AI-powered Bing tool called Bing Chat Enterprise. The Bing Chat Enterprise promised similar security and privacy features that ChatGPT Enterprise is promising.
